California Works for Better Health

What is California Works for Better Health?
California Works for Better Health (CWBH) is a joint project of the California Endowment and the Rockefeller Foundation.  The program's goal is to improve the health and well-being of people who live in low-income neighborhoods by improving their access to higher quality employment.

How?
By building strong community alliances to reduce poverty and improve health, CWBH aims to enable low-income and isolated communities clustered in urban and rural regions of California to gain increased access to regional economic and social opportunities.

BETTER JOBS = Better Income, Better Health, Better Communities

Who - CALIFORNIAS?
In September 2000, CWBH awarded a series of grants to community based organizations (CBOs) in Fresno, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Sacramento.

Who are the Fresno Works for Better Health Partners?
The Fresno Works for Better Health is comprised of three CBOs:
All three organizations are well known for their involvement in the community through education, empowerment, and advocacy for social justice issues.
