Fresno West Coalition for Economic Development’s Neighborhood Employment Economic Resource Center (NEERC) provides residents from the surrounding neighborhood with job referrals, job trainings and business development opportunities.  The NEERC is a project under the Fresno Works for Better Health (FWBH) collaborative which is funded by The California Endowment.

FWCED’s NEERC has designed a unique program that will serve as the bridge or connecting point between West Fresno residents and existing mainstream services such as the Employment Development Department and Workforce Connection.  The NEERC provides an opportunity to educate, grow and network the residents with employers.  The NEERC is open Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm with access to a 10-unit computer lab with availability to a laser printer, fax, phones and high speed internet.

The ultimate purpose of the NEERC is to enhance employment opportunities for residents of target neighborhoods in Fresno.  A central hypothesis and innovative feature of our initiative is the intent to test whether the combined powers of influential community organizations and mobilized residents can promote policies and encourage more responsive and effective service delivery by the major workforce and social service providers, thereby leading to improved employment and positive health outcomes for West Fresno residents.
